About
Most small businesses want to give the impression that it's not just one person behind the brand, but a team of many. Your mermaid isn't most small businesses. I'm a one-woman show, and proud of it. I pour and wrap every candle carefully because anyone buying a candle called "Warm Nuts" is my kind of person. I'm distasteful trash (and if you're here, that means you are too) and a beach bum stuck in the south suburbs of Chicago. Here's the story:
I have always been fascinated with the way fragrance and lighting can alter the energy in a room. Remove harsh artificial lighting and burn a few scented candles and watch how quickly it can quiet the spirit.
It wasn't until I got pregnant with my son that I started to take notice of the toxins we are all exposed to on a daily basis. Not just in skincare products, but in the candles that I loved so much. It was then that I decided to make my own candles- with natural soy wax and free of phthalates, toxic additives and unnatural dyes.
The only thing that could make clean candles better is a dirty name. Because who wants to sniff a "coconut" candle when you can sniff some Beach Titties?
I'm a mother, a maker and a mermaid (and in that order).
Xoxo,
ill-mannered mermaid
